It has been said that Bánh Bèo Chén aka Water Fern Cakes has been around since the Nguyen dynasty when apparently one of the Royal Chefs was ordered to prepare a unique meal for the emperor and his 104 wives and on one night the Chef struck gold with Bánh Béo! It has since been set in stone as a signature Huế dish.
